red line gallery opening
I went to the opening of Red Line art gallery in Denver with some fellow friends and artists/designers. The opening featured work from a large variety of artist, working in all different medias all from different backgrounds. In this gallery, artists that are accepted into the program (from what I understand) are given studio space to work and then there is an opening, like the one we attended, where a selection of their art is displayed. My personal favorite part of the experience was getting to the spaces in which the artists work.
It was incredible to be able to see the spaces the artists create in, inadvertently creating art just by inhabiting the space. The studios were filled with photos of family members, previous work, work from other artists, notes from friends, tulle swatches, previous try’s and fail’s, sketches and more sketches, incense sticks, candles, cozy couches, ambient lighting, insane neon LED lighting, fake grass carpets, sand, stacks of iterations, flowers, dead plants, paint samples, easels, bare walls, white walls, cinderblock walls, doodles, postcards, pens, pencils, paintbrushes, and other weapons of choice, blankets, ink, messy stacks of assorted items, action figures, scissors, movie projectors, and the list goes on and on.
I was super inspired by absorbing the spaces we create to create in.
